Program assessment
An independent read before you decide the next round. Five weeks. Fixed fee.
An independent assessment of a funded technology or AI program, for the funder or intermediary deciding the next round, a renewal or an exit. Five weeks. Fixed fee.
This is for you if
- You fund or run a program that gave organizations technology, AI tools, training or grants
- The program has ended or is closing
- A next-round, renewal or exit decision is due in the next four months
The situation
A decision is coming: renew the program, change it, or end it. Final reports show what was delivered. They rarely show what organizations still use months later, what it costs them to keep it running, or why some of it stopped. The people who know are the participating organizations, and they are often more candid with someone who doesn't control their funding.
What the fee covers
- Independent conversations with the program lead and the participating organizations you choose together. I have no stake in the next round and do not run it.
- A decision session with your team: what is in use, what it costs to sustain, what stopped and why, and two or three options for the next round with their tradeoffs.
- A short record for each organization, which the organization keeps.
- A decision memo that sets out the findings and options for the session and for your files.
Three sizes, one fixed fee each
| Size | Organizations | Fixed fee |
|---|---|---|
| Full | 8 | $12,000 |
| Standard | 5 | $10,000 |
| Focused | 3 | $8,000 |
Every size includes the program-lead conversation, organization records, the decision memo, the decision session and the same five-week timeline. Half at the start, half on delivery of the memo.
How it runs
- Week 1 — scope, program files, choose organizations with the program lead
- Weeks 2–4 — conversations with organizations
- Week 5 — memo and decision session
Terms
- Named organization records stay with the organizations. You receive patterns, not scores of individual grantees.
- Nothing from the assessment is used in grant scoring.
- I don't assess programs I helped build.
- I don't run the next round, so the recommendation has no stake in which option you choose.
Next step
A 20-minute fit call. Bring the program name, the decision date and one document (final report or grant summary). If it fits, you get a written scope with the three sizes and fixed fees within two working days.
